Bangladesh celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr

Muslims in Bangladesh are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of their biggest religious festivals marking the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting.
Millions of devotees thronged mosques, Eidgahs and makeshift prayer venues to offer Eid prayers. They prayed for the peace and prosperity of Bangladesh and the world.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the people on this occasion.
The main Eid congregation in Dhaka was held at the National Eidgah on the premises of the Bangladesh Supreme Court at 8:30am on Saturday. President Hamid offered prayers therealong with hundreds of people from all walks of life.
Cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, Parliament members, politicians, as well as senior civil and military officials, also attended the congregation.
National Mosque Baitul Mukarram’s Senior Pesh Imam, Hafez Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, conducted the main Eid jamaat.
Bangladesh’s biggest congregation was held at Sholakia of Kishoreganjat 10am.
The railway is operating Sholakia special trains on the Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhoirab, and the  Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh routes.
In Dhaka, five Eid congregations were held at the National Mosque at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am and 10:45am.
A total of 409 congregations are being held in the capital within the two city corporations.
Law enforcement agencies have enforced tight security measures in and around the main National Eidgah congregation.
Divisional, district, and upazila administrations and local government bodies have prepared for Eid-ul-Fitr in their respective areas.
City corporations have kept children’s parks openwith free entry for all visitors.
Bangladesh missions abroad are also observing Eid in a befitting manner.
The government has chalked out elaborate programs. The national flag has been hoisted at government, autonomous and non-government offices, and other important establishments on the occasion.
Key traffic islands and light posts in Dhaka city have been decorated with miniature national flags and flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak.” Designated government offices and other establishments have also been illuminated.
Festival meals and sweets are being served at hospitals, jails, and orphanages.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and private television channels have special Eid programs lined up, and newspapers are publishing supplements.
